The brief
The installation needed a site that showed its films and sound properly, rather than a gallery page with a YouTube embed.
The design came from a design studio as Figma files. My job was to build it exactly, make the video archive work well on any device, and keep it running. The site needed to feel like an extension of the exhibition, as well as a cultural archive for all of the touring iterations.
What I did
- Built the site from the studio’s designs, down to the dot-grid landing page, placed exactly where the designer put each dot.
- Wrote a custom video and audio player, with its own controls, a vertical volume slider and links that open straight to a particular film.
- Set up visitor stats that show which films people watch and how far they get, without a cookie banner.
- Host it on its own server and look after it: updates, backups and monitoring.

The result
Between June and early November 2026, the site had 1,088 visitors, who started 2,567 films and stayed an average of over two minutes. After launch, the artist went on to use it to help run workshops for the following iterations of the exhibition.
