How it works
From the first chat to years after launch, it’s the same person.
No account managers and no handing you off to a hosting company. Here’s exactly what happens, and what I’ll need from you along the way.
The four steps
- 1
First chat
FreeWe talk through what you do and what the site needs to do. I’ll tell you plainly if I’m not the right person for it.
What I need from you
A rough idea of what you want, and a few sites you like (or hate).
- 2
Quote and plan
~1 weekYou get a fixed price in writing, what’s included and a rough timeline. Nothing starts until you’re happy with it.
What I need from you
Sign-off, and a 50% deposit.
- 3
Build
~3-6 weeksI build it on a private preview link you can open any time. We check in every week and change things as we go.
What I need from you
Your words and photos, and quick answers to questions.
- 4
Launch and care
OngoingIt goes live on your domain. I show you how to edit anything you want to edit yourself, then, if you’d like me to look after it, hosting and care starts.
What I need from you
Nothing. Email me when you want something changed.
What I build
Sites that do a job.
Business websites
A clear, fast site that tells people what you do and how to get hold of you.
Booking and shop sites
Take bookings or payments online, with availability that stays right.
Creative and portfolio sites
Sites built around the work itself: films, sound, images, exhibitions.
Sites you can update
An editor for the parts you change often, like news, events or a gallery.
After launch
What hosting and care covers.
Hosting
Your site runs on a server I set up and manage myself, not a crowded shared plan.
Security and updates
Software updates, SSL certificates and server patches, done for you without being asked.
Backups
Your site and its content are backed up regularly, so nothing is lost if something goes wrong.
Monitoring
I get an alert if your site goes down, usually before you’ve noticed.
Small changes
Email me a new photo, new prices or a new page and I’ll do it. Up to 1 day a month included.
Visitor stats
Privacy-friendly analytics that show what people read, without a cookie banner.
Ownership
Who owns what.
Plainly, so there are no surprises if you ever want to move on.
| Thing | Who owns it |
|---|---|
| Your domain name | You. Registered in your name. |
| Words, photos and content | You. Always. |
| The site’s code | You, once the build is paid for. |
| The server it runs on | Me, as part of hosting and care. If you leave, I help you move. |
Sound like what you need?
Tell me what you’re making and what the site needs to do. I read everything and reply within one working day.
